Dennis Trillo soon to again grace GMA’s primetime as Gagambino

Dennis Trillo will be back in primetime anytime soon as GMA-7’s Gagambino lead star.

Gagambino is one of Carlo J. Caparas’ comic series. Before this role was given to Dennis, there were several names of young actors that popped-up as possible lead role. These include JC de Vera, Marky Cielo and Aljur Abrenica. But now, it’s confirmed now that Dennis Trillo will play as the Gagambino.

With this turn-out of event, this goes to show that GMA’s trust to Dennis Trillo is back, giving him the lead role in one of their upcoming primetime shows. The last primetime show that he had was Zaido: Pulis Pangkalawakan, where he was with Marky and Aljur. He was also part of the E.S.P. of Iza Calzado as the guest for one month. He is currently seen at GMA’s Sine Novela, Magdusa Ka, opposite Katrina Halili.

Dennis admitted that his career made a little bad turn when the news came out that he impregnated beauty queen Carlene Aguilar, and bore a son. But everything is now settled with Carlene, and he now has no problem being the father to their son Calix Andreas.

He is reportedly happy because he will soon be back in prime-time, and he is challenged by the role as Gagambino. Many said that Gagambino is the Pinoy version of the Hollywood blockbuster movie Spiderman, but with Pinoy flavor that will be appreciated by the viewers.

At present, Denis is busy doing work-outs and training since he will have more physical scenes in this teleserye. Just like in Zaido, he will have many stunts that he needs to prepare for.

GMA-7 has already shown several plugs for their upcoming shows for the second quarter this year, which is part of their 58th Anniversary of the Kapuso network. Included in their line-up of shows are Gagambino of Dennis Trillo; Codename : Asera of Richard Gutierrez; Survivor Philippines of Paolo Bediones; Ako si Kim Sam Soon of Regine Velasquez; and La Lola of Rhian Ramos.

John Lloyd Cruz interested to work with Marian Rivera

“Kasi lumapit sa akin si Mother Lily [Monteverde], offering a project with Marian. Pag-uusapan pa talaga,” says John Lloyd Cruz about the possibility of working with Marian Rivera (inset).

Undoubtedly, nasa ibang level na nga, as far as acting is concerned, si John Lloyd.

“I don’t know if it’s going to be a sequel of our first movie together, but it should be another team-up movie for Valentine’s day.

Before KC’s movie with Richard Gutierrez was conceived, ABS-CBN was toying with the idea of pairing KC with John Lloyd.

Kung mayroon mang ganyang plano, that will have to wait. Baka next year, puwede na,” sabi niya.

Iba ang glow sa mga mata ni Lloydie nang mabanggit kung sino ang pupuwedeng sumunod niyang makapareha after Bea Alonzo and Sarah Geronimo.

“Interesado ako kay Marian Rivera,” sabi ni John Lloyd. “Kasi lumapit sa akin si Mother Lily [Monteverde], offering a project with Marian.

“Noon ko pa naman sinasabi na ayokong malimitahan by just working with people identified with ABS-CBN. Mas makatutulong siguro sa akin kung paminsan-minsan, gagawa ako ng movies with stars na hindi ko basta makakasama, and it should really be special,” nangingiting dugtong ng young actor.

INDIE FILMS.

“There’s nothing wrong with that. If it’s really a good project, why not?

Wendy was insistent sa naging sagot niya sa game portion which Edu believed was wrong. Diumano, sinagut-sagot ni Wendy si Edu.

During playback, it was discovered na mali ang pagkaka-pronounce ni Wendy ng sagot, even if she believed she said it right.

Wendy Valdez and Uma Khouny continue to cross swords in word war

Paliwanag niya, “I was joking that time.

Halos lumuluhang ipinaliwanag ni Wendy, “Hindi galit ‘to. Ano ‘to, sama ng loob kasi parang napapaglaruan ako. Parang wala akong ginagawa dito.

UMA KHOUNY SPEAKS, TOO.

Or is it paawa-iyak?”

“So for me, as a televiewer and fan ng PBB, she was “plastic.”

Para kay Uma, “Look, I never close doors, di ba?

KIM CHIU NOT YET READY TO BE PAIRED WITH OTHER LEADING MEN

Kasi, alam nilang maraming Kimerald [fans]. Parang nag-i-email sila every day kapag wala kaming show.

SECOND BATCH OF PBB.

Charice performs duet with Celine Dion at Madison Square Garden

The country's pride, Charice again proved that dreams do come true after she performed a duet with one of her favorite international stars -- Celine Dion, September 15, Tuesday at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

In the concert dubbed as "Taking Chances World Tour, "Charice sang the hit "Because You Loved Me" with her idol Celine.

The song was actually chosen for and dedicated to Charice's strength and love -- her mom Raquel Pempengco.

In the concert, the Canadian international star first told the life story of Charice.

"This young girl's name is Charice. I'm so excited. She's 16 years old and she's from the Philippines. Let me tell you she has a voice that can literally blow the roof off Madison Square. But the real story is, Charice and her mom escaped a terrifying experience and had to leave Charice's violent father. You know, to start a life on their own, Charice vowed to save her mom from life's desperation. Through prayers and dreams and God-given talent, an incredible voice, Charice entered and won every singing contest in her native country and eventually got noticed. By such a fortunate chance people saw the show on Oprah and Oprah wanted to take her under her wing and David Foster joined them.

"I had a chance to see Charice perform one of my songs in Oprah last week. I have a little difficulty to talk right now because I met Charice and I'm so emotional and so I'm searching and looking for my words trying to control my emotion. I invited here to come her tonight to sing with me...,” said Celine Dion.

After Celine's lovely introduction to Charice she invited her to come up on stage and join her. Celine then told Charice how spectacular she is and how she looked really beautiful.

Celine asked the young diva how she feels to be with her on the same stage. Charice admitted that she's nervous but Celine calmed her and said that she does not have to be.

"First of all you look spectacular you're beautiful, you're shaking, how do you feel? Don't be nervous I think people will understand that you're nervous. But let me tell you one thing, the talent we're not going to talk about because you have that, we're not going to talk about strength because you have that (Celine pointing to Charice's mom Raquel Pempengco) and so the love. And I have to tell you that the family we have to talk about because you have that too. One time my manager, my husband told me 'Celine', because when I started to sing I was 12 years old so 12 and 16, it's the same, okay?

"He told me 'Celine I know you're nervous, don't be scared. You love to sing. When you go up there you'll be nervous don't be.' I will give you an image that you can think about, think about that. All the people you see in front of you are your brothers and sisters. You are singing in your living room and it's your family," Celine told Charice.

Charice in return said that she was ready to sing and agreed to dedicate their song "Because You Loved Me" to her mother Raquel.

The crowd, in a standing ovation, roared and praised Celine and Charice after their performance.

"You did amazing, and the roof of the Madison (blew) up tonight," said Celine.

Celine also said that she loved Charice and that she could not wait to perform with Charice for a full concert.

"When you do perform in Madison Square are you going to invite me? I love you and I can not wait to be with you to perform here for a whole concert," Celine said before she let Charice leave the concert stage

TV Ratings (Sept. 12-15): “PDA” finale reigns supreme; “Survivor” outplays “Kahit Isang Saglit”

Survivor Philippines hosted by Paolo Bediones (left) premiered last night with an impressive 31.8 percent mark while the two-night finale of Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2, which was won by Laarni Lozada (right), topped the weekend primetime race. Jericho Rosales’s (inset) new primetime drama series Kahit Isang Saglit opened with a modest 22 percent.

Two new shows went head to head last night, September 15: GMA-7’s reality series Survivor Philippines and ABS-CBN’s drama series Kahit Isang Saglit.

Survivor Philippines, hosted by Paolo Bediones, premiered with an impressive 31.8 percent to grab the fourth spot in the primetime race. Kahit Isang Saglit, starring Jericho Rosales and Malaysian actress Carmen Soo, debuted with a modest 22 percent; but it missed the Top 10 by placing 11th behind My Husband’s Woman’s 22.7 percent.

Aside from Survivor Philippines and My Husband’s Woman, four other Kapuso shows made it to the Top 10: Dyesebel (No. 1), Codename: Asero (No. 2), Ako Si Kim Samsoon (No. 3), and 24 Oras (No. 5).

The rest of the Top 10 went to ABS-CBN shows: I Love Betty La Fea, TV Patrol World, Iisa Pa Lamang, and Dyosa.

Eat Bulaga grabbed the top spot in the daytime race by hauling a rating of 23 percent; followed by Una Kang Naging Akin (21 percent), Wowowee (19.6 percent), Gaano Kadalas ang Minsan (19.5 percent), and Daisy Siete (18.9 percent).

The two-night finale of Pinoy Dream Academy (PDA), on the other hand, reigned supreme last weekend, September 13 and 14, topping the primetime race for two consecutive nights. PDA’s Performance Night last Saturday raked in 31.8 percent while its Awards Night—where Laarni Lozada was declared the Grand Star Dreamer—the following night, Sunday, amassed a total of 36.1 percent.

The Performance Night of PDA was followed by four GMA-7 shows: Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho (28.6 percent), Bitoy’s Funniest Videos (28.6 percent), Imbestigador (27.3 percent), and Celebrity Duets (24.1 percent).

Completing the rest of the Top 10 were Maalaala Mo Kaya, Varga, XXX, Nuts Entertainment, and Sine Totoo.

Coming in second after the Awards Night of PDA was Tok! Tok! Tok! Isang Milyon Pasok with 26.6 percent; followed by Kap’s Amazing Stories (25.3 percent), Goin’ Bulilit (25 percent), and Mel & Joey (22.5 percent).

In the daytime race, ASAP ‘08 took the lead once again from SOP; 17.9 percent versus 16.5 percent, respectively.

In the battle of Sunday showbiz talk shows, The Buzz prevailed with 11.7 percent against Showbiz Central’s 10.5 percent.

With ABS-CBN getting the top spots for both daytime and primetime, the Kapamilya network also edged out GMA-7 for the total audience share of the day, 15.7 percent versus 14.2 percent.

Eat Bulaga topped the daytime race last Saturday with 23.1 percent; followed by Pinoy Records (20.4 percent), Wish Ko Lang (18.9 percent), Wowowee (18.6 percent), and Startalk (14.2 percent).

The longest-running noontime show also led all daytime programs last Friday, September 12, with 23.5 percent. It was followed by three Kapuso afternoon soaps: Gaano Kadalas ang Minsan (21.5 percent), Daisy Siete (20.5 percent), and Una Kang Naging Akin (20.4 percent). Completing the Top 5 was Wowowee with 17.5 percent.

Dyesebel, on the other hand, ruled the primetime race with a high 41.8 percent; closely followed by Codename: Asero with 39.9 percent. Completing the Top 5 were other Kapuso shows: Ako Si Kim Samsoon, 24 Oras, and My Husband’s Woman.

The bottom half was occupied by the following ABS-CBN programs: TV Patrol World, I Love Betty La Fea, Iisa Pa Lamang, Dyosa, and Pinoy Dream Academy.

Oprah agrees to manage Charice’s career in US - report

MANILA, Philippines - Oprah Winfrey has agreed to manage Filipino sensation Charice Pempengco’s singing career in the United States, her Philippine record label confirmed Tuesday.

A radio report quoted Nixon Sy, head of the Star Records, as also saying that the popular television host has also promised to devote an entire show for Charice to better acquaint American audiences to the YouTube star.

Sy however clarified that Winfrey would only manage Charice’s career in the US while she remains under the management of her local manager in the Philippines.

Last week, Winfrey invited Charice back to her show, allotting a good half of the show for her.

Aside from touring viewers to her hometown of San Pedro, Laguna, Charice also rendered a soaring rendition of Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On.”

Incidentally, Charice was treated with a surprise during the show when Winfrey introduced the young girl to Dion via video conference.

After seeing the 16-year-old Filipina sing and learning about her life story, the “My Heart Will Go On” singer then proposed if they could do a song number together.

Charice is scheduled to perform the duet with the Canadian superstar at the latter’s concert at the Madison Square Garden in New York this week.

Aside from Dion, big-time producer David Foster and Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli had previously invited the young Filipina to belt out a tune in their respective concerts.

Charice, a product of a local singing competition on television, gained a worldwide audience when her performance videos were posted on the popular video-sharing website.

Not long after, her videos began racking up millions of hits and show organizers from Japan , South Korea and even in the United Kingdom started lining up one after the other to request her appearance in their shows.

“Well, wala pa namang kinukumpirma sa aking project,” sabi niya. “But I hope, since may kontrata ako sa kanila, meron namang susunod.

So, tingnan natin.

PROUD TO BE JOLOGS.

Mrs. Rose Flaminiano files TRO against Gabby Concepcion

Pero all of a sudden, bakit nagkaganun? Para niya akong binasura. Bakit?” asks Mrs. Rose Flaminiano (right) in connection with her leagl battle with Gabby Concepcion (left).

Bonifacio Alentajan na nagsampa ng P22-million Specific Performance and Damages with Application For Writ of Preliminary Injunction and Prayer for Temporary Restraining Order laban kina Gabby at Atty. Fortun.

Pero all of a sudden, bakit nagkaganun?

‘Tapos all of a sudden sa The Buzz, sasabihin niya hinahanap daw niya ako.

Sa nasabing isinampang kaso, humihingi si Mrs. Flaminiano ng P15 million actual damages, P3 million moral damages, P2 million exemplary damages, at P2 milion attorney’s fee—or a total of P22 million.

Laarni Lozada (born Laarni Losala) is a Filipino Pop/Ballad singer. She is the winner [1] Pinoy Dream Academy, Philippine's franchise of Endemol's Star Academy after only a little more than 100,000 votes seperated her from her strongest contender, Bugoy Drillon.

She has two siblings, [4]Richard and Cristina Losala. In elementary and high school, she was a consistent honor student. When she was 15 years old, her Aunt from the US enrolled her at the School of Music of The Philippine Women's University. She also worked as a student assistant of the school.

As a singer, she sang for different functions, singing competitions and other guestings. [6]Before Pinoy Dream Academy, Laarni joined different singing competitions in her hometown and in Manila. Pinoy Dream Academy

In hearing that a new season of Pinoy Dream Academy was coming, Laarni decided to audition with her rendition of Lead Me Lord. Beyonce Knowles

CURVY Beyoncé has given up fatty burgers and chips . . . and ended up with a body to relish!

The result of the Bootylicious singer winning her battle against junk-food cravings is this sight for sore fries!

Beyoncé, 27, said: “I love all the greasy stuff even though I know it’s not good for me.

“I have to be very careful for months on end about what I eat. And then suddenly I will have a moment of weakness and have junk food.

“I just try and whiz straight past the drive-thrus now because it can be so dangerous.”

And all that whizzing has paid off because she’s managed to keep her delicious shape. Beyoncé showed off her toned and trim bod for the latest US Sports Illustrated mag.

L’Oréal recently caused a storm when it made her skin and hair lighter on an ad—but this time nothing was altered. In between photoshoots Beyoncé—newly wed to rapper Jay-Z—has been busy finishing her third album, out in November.

The first single is I’m Just a Boy. Burger me—who’d have guessed it!

Britney Spears

IT’S the most sensational comeback in pop history—from crazed star on the brink of self- destruction back to the Britney Spears the world fell in love with.

IT was crowned by her glorious appearance at the MTV video music awards—and looking on was the one person who knows the FULL STORY of her harrowing ordeal . . . her mum Lynne.

NOW, in heartrending extracts from her gripping new book, she details how her pop princess daughter went to hell and back—and her despair as she watched her life falling apart.

LYNNE Spears wept with joy as she watched her daughter Britney get a standing ovation at last week’s glittering MTV awards show.

The applause finally swept away a nightmare two years in which she’d seen her troubled girl’s life spiral out of control and into a psychiatric hospital.

Lynne, who had witnessed Britney’s terrifying descent into madness, says: “I looked at her on stage and realised I finally had her back.

“I saw the Britney we remember and love—not the girl I had seen strapped to a stretcher being wheeled into a psychiatric hospital—and tears of relief filled my eyes.”

It was a far cry from the MTV video awards of a year ago. For the tears in Lynne’s eyes that night stung with pain as she watched a zombie-like performance from her troubled daughter.

Then the singer was deep in the midst of her personal hell—sucked into a whirlwind of prescription DRUGS and BOOZE, facing DIVORCE from husband Kevin Federline and losing CUSTODY of her two sons.

Branded a danger to herself and her children. Careering towards a mental BREAKDOWN.

PINOY IDOL WINNER!

Yehey! She has the best voice among the three, and for a singing competition like Pinoy Idol, she is the best choice.

Just a recap, Ram Chavez was first eliminated.

The remaining two idol finalists, Gretchen Espina and Jayann Bautista, then sang judge Ogie Alcasid’s original composition, “To You”, as the Final Idol Song (just like Kelly Clarkson’s “A Moment Like This” in American Idol).

Then the announcement of winners! Gretchen got it! Sad for Jayann, but she should not worry.. with her sexy good looks (plus talent), she’s super marketable. Even John “Sweet” Lapuz kept rooting for her earlier at Showbiz Central.

Gretchen gets a contract from GMA and BMG records, a million pesos from SM, a Mitsubishi ES 2008 model car worth a million pesos, and an avida condo worth 2.2 million pesos, that’s a lot of pesosesoses — 5.7 million worth of prizes, the biggest ever in the history of Philippine singing competition!

Make us proud, girl!

PDA GRAND star dreamer

Cuneta Astrodome was indeed filled with tension tonight as the much awaited announcement of Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2’s Grand Star Dreamer has finally arrived. The Top Six Scholars were joined by their former co-Scholars, Vina Morales and Wency Cornejo to open the show with their rendition of Bon Jovi’s It’s My Life and the legendary group Journey’s Don’t Stop Believin’.

Tonight, the Little Dreamers’ Little Dream Bigayan Project was also launched. In the spirit of Christmas, the Academy kids imparted a collection of Christmas songs as the former Scholars roamed around the dome in order to collect donations to be given to the kids’ charity—Childhope Asia Philippines.

Uberture host, Billy Crawford also imparted a song and dance number tonight. Together with the Banana Split girls, he performed his hit song Bright Lights. Aside from Billy, the Dream Mentors too prepared a little something to bid their Scholars farewell. Teacher Von, Teacher Monet, Teacher Kitchy, Direk Joey and Headmaster Ryan had their own interesting version of Earth, Wind and Fire’s September and the Tagalized version of Umbrella on stage.

To finally end the night, the much awaited announcement was made. Laarni was hailed the newest Pinoy Dream Academy Grand Star Dreamer. After garnering 651,696 votes, which is equivalent to 35.21 percent of the total text votes, she owned the stage with great pride and sang her very first single Manalig Ka. The Independent Woman from Sultan Kudarat was indeed overwhelmed upon hearing her win. She broke down in tears in the middle of her final song, but since the show must go on, she did her best to pull herself together.

Joining the new Grand Star Dreamer in the Top Three were Bugoy and Miguel who gathered a total of 26.70% and 13.69% respectively. Unfortunately, Liezel, who was a consistent Star Scholar didn’t make it into the Top Three and had to settle with fourth place with a total of 247,346 text votes. She was followed by Van who garnered 112,065 votes while Cris filled in the last slot with only a total of 36,487 text votes.

The school year has finally ended and it’s time for the Scholars to finally face the real world and show everyone what they have learned inside the Academy. Best of luck Scholars! Till the next season!
